"Jomo" has performed and choreographed with numerous professional dance companies in his native country South Africa, as well as Great Britain and the United States. In South Africa, he has performed in the musicals "Umthakathi" and "Mmathari" and with the Winds of Change Dance Group. In Great Britain, he choreographed and performed with Adzido Pan-African Dance Ensemble. In 1992, he joined the world-famous Soweto Street Beat Dance Company and came with them to the United States in 1993. While living in Atlanta, he performed with Griot Art Ensemble and the McL:endon Performing Company. In 1994, he
formed "Vuka", which was originally organized in 1992 to teach dance, music and drumming to the Ballet Company at WITS University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

ZULU CULTURAL TIPS

:: Traditional Clothing of the Zulus are cow, goat, and goat skins. Leopard skin was worn only by the Zulu Royal Family.
:: Cow skin is used on South African drums. Goat skin is used on sangoma (South Africa doctor) drums only.
:: There are 11 different tribes in South Africa. The Zulu tribe is the largest.
:: Before South Africa was invaded by the Dutch, it was known as Azania.
